Daemon-Pack

A strong anchor process escorted by weak minions — forces priority-target decisions.

Overview

The Daemon-Pack is not a single enemy but an encounter formation: one strong anchor process surrounded by a cluster of weaker minion-processes (the specific types are OPEN — the design calls for “strong enemy with weak minions” as an encounter archetype drawn from FOUNDATION L81).

It represents the “minion anchor” enemy design — the question it forces is which threat to clear first: kill the anchor to stop it buffering/summoning the swarm, or kill the minions first to reduce incoming projectile density.

Build status: the Daemon-Pack formation is OPEN / to-build. The constituent archetypes (anchor + minion types, protective behaviors, minion replenishment) are not yet in the proto. The design is locked; implementation is a later milestone.

Behavior

The anchor process is tanky and deals strong direct damage. The surrounding minions (likely Garbage Collector or Scan-Drone sub-types) swarm the player and maintain bullet pressure while the anchor attacks. Some designs call for the anchor to protect or buff minions — for example, a barrier or rate-of-fire aura that the minions lose when the anchor dies.

Attack Pattern

  • Anchor: high HP, strong direct attack, may project a protective aura for nearby minions.
  • Minions: low HP, weak individual damage, dangerous in aggregate — especially if Garbage Collector types that delete projectiles aimed at the anchor.
  • Specific patterns are OPEN — to be authored when the Daemon-Pack is built.

How to Fight

Kill the anchor first if it is shielding or buffing minions — removing the buff source collapses the encounter. Kill the minions first if they are deleting your projectiles (Garbage Collector sub-type) and preventing you from damaging the anchor. Reading which formation type it is before committing is the skill check.

Threat Notes

  • Tier: Elite (sub-boss formation)
  • Design purpose: priority-target decision-making; adds encounter variety without requiring a new handcrafted boss.
  • Biome placement: OPEN — which biomes include Daemon-Pack formations is not yet designed.
  • Names: Daemon-Pack is a working name. OPEN — final name is Jay’s call.
